CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
TITLE RECEIVED
After the successful completion of the courses and the fulfillment of other requirements, students in the child development program are entitled to an associate degree diploma.
SPECIAL ACCEPTANCE TERMS
In order to accept students to higher education, nationwide Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) must be taken or applicants must apply for the transition exam. Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) is held once a year by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students are placed in the departments of Higher Education Institutions according to the scores obtained from Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) and their high school grade point averages.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
There is no limit to the maximum period of study to obtain Associate Degree.
RECOGNITION OF PREVIOUS LEARNING
Students enrolled in higher education institutions have the right to demand recognition of their previous studies at different universities. New students must submit their own transcripts and course contents to the relevant department within the first week of the registration year in order to be recognized.
HISTORY
In 2003-2004 academic year, the Child Development program started to operate as formal education by taking students to second education. In 2005-2006 academic year, normal education started to operate. Student quota is 60 people in normal education and 60 people in second education, total 120 people. There are 4 faculty members in the program.
PROGRAM PROFILE
The main purpose of the child development program is to provide education services aimed at providing life skills with modern teaching methods in accordance with the information age and the requirements of business life with the principle of lifelong education. In this direction, it is desirable to ensure that our students grow up as individuals who use the equipment they possess, who research, who wish to contribute to the development of their country and profession, follow the developments in their field, renew themselves constantly, have original ideas and analyze. The program lasts four semesters.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
To be able to fulfill the professional requirements of the profession in the field of child development and education
To take care that children use Turkish correctly and beautifully.
To prepare child development and activity appropriate for children's cognitive, affective and psycho-motor development.
To know the relationship between society, family and children; Communicate effectively with children
Planning and implementing drama, play and music activities.
To follow the feeding habits of children
Planning and implementing activities for children with disabilities.
To apply science and technology education in children
To plan and implement the activities in the daily training plan flow
To use, prepare and maintain the tools, materials and documents in the working environment.
To have knowledge and skills about family education
To have knowledge and skills about child health and diseases
EXAMS, MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION
Each student has to attend the courses, practices, laboratory, project, workshop, mid-term studies and graduation studies. Students who do not attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and who do not attend at least 80% of laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exams of those courses. Students are required to repeat the course until they meet the attendance requirement in theoretical courses. Examinations are usually done in writing. However, the instructor may also decide to have an oral presentation. According to the content of the courses, students can be directed to the project work provided that it is indicated on the information form. The exams of the courses are given by the instructor. Make-up exams can be given to students who have an excuse with the approval of the related board within 15 days from the end date of the mid-term exam.
GRADUATION CONDITIONS
The student must not have any failed courses, the GPA must be at least 2.00 (according to 4 systems) and must have been accepted and compulsory internship.
EMPLOYMENT PROFILES OF GRADUATES
They can work in pre-school education centers of private and public schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, day care centers / day-care centers / nurseries, child health centers, children's clinics, play rooms and special education centers of the Social Services and Child Protection Agency.
ACCESS TO ADVANCED STUDIES
Graduates who successfully complete the associate degree education can pass to the undergraduate programs of “Preschool Education and Child Development and Education Teaching” of the universities provided that they have enough points from Vertical Transfer Exam.
